About Us

Who we are:

Founded in 1973, Ipas is a pioneering global health and rights organization. We promote women’s and girls’ bodily autonomy and protect their right to reproductive decision making, including the decision to safely end a pregnancy. Ipas has programs and offices in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and North America. We have worked in Pakistan since 2007 to enhance access to abortion, treatment for complications of unsafe abortion (known as postabortion care), and contraception through socially and culturally sensitive interventions.

Where we work:

Ipas Pakistan currently works in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad Capital Territory.

Our priorities:

Ipas Pakistan’s work is centered on the needs of women seeking care. We are working towards a sustainable abortion ecosystem, where local stakeholders and health systems are actively committed to abortion rights and respond to women’s needs. Women should feel supported in their decision to access services—and services should be available when and where women need them.

Our partners:

Ipas Pakistan maintains strong relationships with a range of partners, including the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination; provincial health and population welfare departments; and health professional associations. We also work with community-based organizations, schools of midwifery and nursing, local and international NGOs, and other stakeholders.
